ABOUT JONATHAN BUCK
I work in UK sport ticketing with suppliers operating in or entering the UK market, and with clubs at key points of change. The work I take on usually falls into five situations. Suppliers who believe they are ready for UK sportYou are investing heavily to enter UK sport, but your forecast assumes UK clubs behave like your existing markets. Ticketing people here will go straight at the detail. They will push the edge cases, question the delivery model and expect straight answers. If you are not ready for that level of scrutiny from day one, it won’t get past the first few serious conversations. Suppliers in UK sport where progress has stalledYou are already operating in UK sport. The early deals came through, but progress has levelled out and it is taking more effort than you allowed for. This is usually where an independent review helps. I will look at how you are selling, delivering and supporting in the UK and call out where the UK operation is costing you more than you planned and taking more senior attention than it should. I am not there to defend earlier decisions. I am there to challenge them and fix what is not working. Clubs thinking about changing ticketing supplierYou believe the current system is holding you back and a change feels overdue. Before you go to market, be clear on what is actually wrong. If you cannot point to the commercial impact of the problem and the operational impact on your team, changing supplier is just an expensive reset. Clubs about to commit to a new supplierYou have decided to change supplier and you want to be certain you are choosing the right system for your club. Before everything is locked in, it helps to have someone work through the detail based on how your club actually runs day to day. My role is to go through the decision properly so you know it stands up when it is challenged and your name is attached to it. Clubs who want ticketing to drive more than transactionsNothing is broken, but you have a sense that ticketing should be contributing more than it currently does. In many clubs the system is run safely and predictably, which keeps things steady but rarely shifts commercial performance or supporter perception in any meaningful way. I work with clubs who want to use ticketing more deliberately, whether that is around pricing, access strategy or supporter engagement, and who are prepared to challenge their own setup to get more out of it.If you recognise yourself in any of these situations, get in touch and we will work through it properly.
