ABOUT JON LAIGHT

I have been in the Fire Service for 24 years and I\'m now the Area Manager responsible for Protection with Warwickshire Fire and Rescue. I am always seeking new opportunities for development and experience. Having previously worked with Hereford and Worcester FRS, Oxfordshire FRS and Tyne and Wear FRS, my experiences have ranged from Metropolitan and Shire Services. I have served as a firefighter and leader/commander at many stations with multiple appliances and special vehicles with training in Swift Water Rescue, Boat Operation, CAFS, and instructor quals in BA, RTC and TacVent. I spent 12 months as the HWFRS lead for Incident Command as well as periods as the Training and Operational Station Commander at HWFRS Training Centre and have also led the Operational Policy Department. I was North District Group Commander for HWFRS working and developing the Response Directorate which was hugely enjoyable and allowed me to work with many amazing people. My specialisms have been Hazmat Advisor and NILO over the past 3 years. I have only recently joined Warks FRS and will be responsible for several departments and teams. My role as a qualified Strategic Level 4 commander brings new challenges, lessons and opportunities every day and I hope to be reaching out to other services to gather and share information to develop Warks FRS further as a modern and forward thinking organisation. I have 23 years of command experience, attending and leading at hundreds of different incidents and have a passion for Incident Command Development and Learning. Cheers, Jon
