ABOUT JOHN HOLMBERG
Biographical Statement: John Holmberg is a clinical psychologist with expertise in community-based family-focused interventions. He was an undergraduate at the University of Colorado, Boulder, attained graduate degrees in clinical psychology from Baylor University, then completed a two year fellowship at the Yale Child Study Center. John worked in prevention research, with David Olds and Heather Taussig, at the U of CO Health Sciences Center for 13 years. John contributed to evaluating longitudinal outcomes, program model enhancements including father engagement and mental health screening as well as community dissemination for the Nurse-Family Partnership and Fostering Healthy Futures. Clinical intervention research related to transition to parenting for men, perinatal mood and anxiety disorders and paternal mental health been consistent passions for John. His time in private practice emphasized treatment for men and dads. John was chair and member of the Colorado Psychological Association’s Ethics Committee for eight years. His teaching and supervision has spanned from intro to psychology, cognitive-behavioral therapy, professional ethics and clinical interventions with children, adolescents, and parents with emphasis on dads. John is a faculty member at the University of Denver’s Graduate School of Professional Psychology in the Perinatal to 5 years specialization focused on clinical research to develop programming for men and dads to address psychopathology and enhance resilience for children and families.
