ABOUT JOHN HENDRIX

I’m an economic development professional with expertise in Tribal and rural communities and a passion to help communities thrive in today’s global, digital economy. I have had the privilege to work with Mississippi Choctaw, and many other Tribal Nations, to identify and pursue opportunities for economic growth. Tribal lands and rural communities offer a wealth of opportunities when pursued with an effective, strategic approach.My motivation: Tribal and rural communities often lag behind metropolitan areas in terms of income, education, health, and other key community metrics that measure the quality of life. This results in significant (and well-intentioned) resources being invested to try to “help” these communities. Unfortunately, in most cases, these investments do not address the root problems and do not move the needle. I am passionate about using my 25+ years of experience working with Tribal and rural communities to try to move the needle in a positive direction.My intentions: I want to help Tribal and rural communities enjoy long-term, sustainable economic growth by leveraging their unique assets and strengths, as well as address challenges by identifying the root problems and selecting effective solutions.My toolbox: Being successful requires a sharp and diverse set of skills, personal values, and mental models- Commitment to life-long learning- Effective decision making- Integrity in all relationships- Strategic thinking- Innovative & entrepreneurial approach to problems- Project management skills- Financial analysis- Efficient computer skills- Ability to navigate government programs
