ABOUT JOHN JR. DE COTEAU
I am an adept financial and management accounting professional having twenty years’ experience gained in a variety of environments, from working for a stock exchange to the oil and gas industry. I started work in Trinidad and Tobago, but more recently for the UK-based offices of Foster Denovo, Lebara, CBRE, ENI UK and ENGIE, which are international companies or work internationally. I am, therefore fully conversant in Financial Reporting standards applied internationally and locally. I am a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) and have a BSc in Applied Accounting.I pride myself in my record of detecting and reporting anomalies, and their rectification. In one case I discovered a reporting discrepancy dating back for years and which had not been detected by my predecessors. Fixing the problem resulted in subsequent accurate reporting. In another case, by developing a quarterly reconciliation mechanism for the dual databases of a group of companies in Europe I was able to save many hours of work and clear backlogs of Statutory Financial Accounts reporting. Creating improvements in the accuracy of reporting and forecasting represents a hallmark of my career.I have a track history of being able to work across groups to optimise financial processes in order to make savings for the organisation. My technical skills include: group consolidation, budgeting and forecasting, internal controls and procedures, systems implementation, financial reporting, auditing and managing finance departments.My leadership and mentoring of small teams of direct reports has allowed those teams to achieve set targets. I am reliable, methodical, and enjoy challenges that present the opportunity to think laterally and formulate innovative solutions. I am now looking for a new role to apply forensic analytical skills to provide an excellent financial and management accounting resource. I aspire to a Financial Manager/Controller position where I can lead the department.
