I manage clinical trials focused on investigating the effectiveness of medication, behavioural and developmental therapies for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in children. These trials have included Fluoxetine for Autistic Behaviours (FAB Trial); TOBY (Therapy Outcomes by You) Playpad Trial - an app based early intervention delivered by parents; Frankie and Friends, an app-based novel intervention that aims to improve joint attention and social communication in children with ASD using Tobii eye-tracking technology.Currently, I\'m working on two RCTs 1) the follow-up of a randomised controlled trial that aims to determine whether probiotic supplementation of pre-term neonates has had a protective effect on their neurodevelopment; 2) the effects of oxytocin (synthetic hormone delivered via daily nasal spray) on the social communication in 3-6 year old children with autism.Earlier, I coordinated a prospective case-control study named PRISM - Pregnancy Investigation of Siblings and Mothers of Children with Autism which aimed to identify pre-natal biological markers that may be associated with autism. My other research areas include complementary and alternative medicine as a treatment option for children with autism. In addition to overweight and obesity; electronic media use and physical (in)activity among children. With a special interest in oral and dental healthcare, I recently joined the Origins Project - research interest group for dental health.

ABOUT JOANNA GRANICH
Joanna\'s background is in public health and clinical research. She is a researcher and an aspiring digital health entrepreneur. She is the founder and director of two early stage start-ups. First, AutiSense Pty Ltd is focused on the development of an app-enabled platform to improve healthcare and well-being of children. Health behaviours form early in life. Creating digital early diagnostics, e-therapeutics and tools that better prepare and support engagement in preventative healthcare may prevent the onset of chronic disease and enhance health outcomes across the ages. Second, Salutem Analytics Pty Ltd, is developing a diagnostic medtech for early detection of pressure injuries. Joanna holds a Masters of Public Health. She has extensive experience in project management, evaluation of public health campaigns, family, school-based and clinical research including behavioural and pharmacological trials. Joanna is also a registered sessional dental therapist in a private practice. She has a special interest in oral and dental health of young children especially those with autism or intellectual disability.Her passion is to make a difference to children and families living with life-long disability through a scientific lens and entrepreneurial endeavours.Joanna\'s current mantra is \'making sense for better healthcare\' for all children by innovating in the digital healthcare space. To kick start this journey, she is developing an app called the \'Dental Detective Check\'. Recently, she completed the CERI, Concept-to-Creation program, the SPARKCoLab BioDesign Course and is about to commence the BridgeTech program as part of her entrepreneurial learning and desire to innovate in the digital healthcare and diagnostics medtech space.
