Co-founded and ran a large, shared, and much-loved community workshop space- CNC machine tools, woodworking, CO₂ laser cutters, numerous 3D printers, electronics workbench, textiles, regular social events, talks, games area, and much more- Grew the space to a 3,600 sq ft workshop in central Oxford (this is large)- Grew monthly paying membership to 125, interacted with them all personally as secretary- Developed a commercial prototype-making service for individuals and early-stage businesses- Developed tax-efficient accounting (mutual trade) & governance (company constitution) for a non-profit with mixed commercial & non-commercial activity- Negotiated terms with sponsors; scrutiny of contracts, leases & partnership agreements- Automated bank data processing (for payments) by reading data from Co-op Bank & Barclays- Developed invoice generation (PhantomJS), and payment processing (Stripe, Go Cardless)- Data protection officer, responsible for personal data protection issues (DPA then GDPR)- Provided Docker, Wordpress, DNS, email and Ubiquiti wifi mesh services to the hackspace- Managed a team of 2 technical employees for the commercial prototyping service

ABOUT JAMIE LOKIER
Especially interested in: Startups with a bold mission where I believe I can make a useful difference, and Technical leadership roles (team lead, head of, startup CTO, product lead, that sort of thing)But open to all options.Very experienced software developer/engineer over a wide range of projects, platforms, architectures, and problem domains. From the very large (servers, clusters, distributed systems, filesystems & database engines) to the very small (wearables, mobile, IoT). Strong in data structures, algorithms, protocols, and attention to detail.Generally operating as a freelance consultant, taking projects or contracts, but open to the right opportunity.At heart I\'m a cross-disciplinary person, but mainly a well-grounded software engineer (since age 10) with a strong aptitude for hardware, maths and physics. I joke that I\'m \"very full stack\" because I happily work, and can do good work, from the lowest level of transistors or FPGA RTL, up through CPU architecture, Linux kernel, compilers and VMs, scalable server apps, networking and network protocols, internet-scale data engineering and on to front-end graphics or games, personal security and smooth user experience in a browser or mobile device. I really enjoy all these things and have worked in them all. A common theme is I tend to be good at optimising for performance, and debugging issues others have struggled with. But as well as low-level trickery, I also think at a high level, as a system designer or architect, and in a slightly different arena, help people with things like business strategy and product roadmaps.I can talk business when necessary, as I have operated as a freelance consultant for a long time, taking projects or contracts and working with clients & customers. However I realised that the most interesting projects for me are not found this way, so I am now considering other options.I may have saved a company once. Ask me about the 1-bit patch that took 2.5 years to figure out, and transformed a business from doom to success. Probably a world record low for \"lines of code per year\".I\'m quite entrepreneurial, both as an irrepressible inventor with more ideas than I can ever hope to build and not enough lab space and money, as well as a social entrepreneur paying heed to the ever-changing world of business, politics, technology and lives of people. My life has been diverse and interesting and this gives me perhaps too much empathy with people of all kinds.*If you pay me well it will be spent on awesome things.*
