ABOUT JIYA KRISHNAKUMAR
Final-year BSc Psychology (Hons) student at Loughborough University with hands-on experience supporting Speech and Language Therapists, counsellors, and research teams working with children and young people. During my placement with an SLT service, I supported and led intervention sessions, developed resources and bespoke interventions for children with DLD and other SLCN, and contributed to research, service development, and professional training. My academic interests align closely with my practical experience, with my dissertation exploring how women at university self-manage chronic communication disorders and navigate their academic and social environments. I am passionate about evidence-based practice, inclusive support, and improving outcomes for individuals with communication needs.
