Jim is Manging Partner for Mackinac Partners, a national finacial advisory, turnaround management and private equity advisory consulting firm. Jim leads or co-leads go to market activities across service lines and has extensive cross-industry financial consulting, restructuring and interim management expertise, including banking and financial services; homebuilding and real estate; resort, leisure and timeshare; sports and entertainment; retail and hospitality; private equity and investment banking industries. He has extensive capital markets experience and has raised more than $5 billion in capital for clients and partners.Jim co-leads Mackinac Partners’ private equity activities and plays a key role in assisting partners with restructuring and optimizing their portfolio companies and holdings, including merger and acquisition activities as well as strategic dispositions. Jim also leads the firm’s real estate practice which includes advisory engagements with national and regional homebuilders, sub prime mortgage lenders, resort and timeshare operators and housing-related manufacturers. Jim has served as Chief Restructuring Officer for many clients, including two of the firm’s larger real estate-related clients, Pacific Monarch Resorts, Inc. and RE Loans, LLC. In these roles, Jim has been responsible for overseeing all cash management and working capital functions, including liquidity generation and developing/implementing cost reductions and operational changes; stabilizing key relationships with vendors, lenders and employees; developing business plans including chapter 11 and liquidation contingency plans; renegotiating long-term credit terms; and as necessary, developing real estate asset management and disposition strategies.Jim has served on the board of directors of a number of companies, including Sunterra Corporation (SNRR), Hamilton Pacific, Inc. and PTC Alliance.
