I’m a dual board-certified physician in Pain Medicine and Emergency Medicine, currently serving as an Associate Professor at UC San Diego. I specialize in interventional procedures, acute pain care, and non-opioid strategies, with active clinical practice in both the emergency department and pain clinic.My work spans academic medicine, clinical innovation, and public health. I lead national initiatives on pain care improvement, serve as Chair of the FDA Consensus Guidelines Committee on Acute Low Back Pain, and regularly consult on clinical trials, product development, and legal cases as a medical expert.I’m passionate about reshaping how we understand, treat, and educate around pain—especially in acute care settings where solutions need to be both fast and sustainable.
