ABOUT JESSICA CABRERA

I am a Principal Forensic Investigator for the Port Authority of NY & NJ’s Office of Inspector General, Investigation Unit & Fraud Prevention Unit. I conduct fraud investigations involving the construction industry, bribery, bid rigging, and financial crimes. In addition, I have trained numerous staff and interns regarding case review and database search processes and procedures, in addition to designed and implemented accountability tools which have directly improved the quality, efficiency and effectiveness related to case review performed by assigned investigators around fraud prevention. Finally, I assist with Project Manager workflow matters, including oversight of integrity monitor resources such as forensic audits, field investigations, M/WBE utilization reviews, labor, safety, and environmental reviews.My education and professional interests have always centered around public service. I previously worked for the City of Toronto, Canada. I obtained a Specialized Honors Undergraduate degree in Public Administration at York University. I am the former AIG Associate Executive Director of Membership. I first became involved with the Association in 2008 during my pursuit of a master’s degree in public administration - Inspector General Specialization at John Jay College of Criminal Justice. I began as a graduate student volunteer, and shortly thereafter became part of the membership services team. Finally, I was formerly an adjunct professor at John Jay College of Criminal Justice master\'s in public administration Inspector General Program, where I taught courses on ethics, government oversight, and inspection.My passion for public service has influenced my professional growth as the outcomes of my work have led to financial recovery for public funds, informed best practices, mitigate occurrences of fraud and shape policies and best practices.
