Hires, manages, trains, and reviews a team of approximately 80 undergraduate Teaching Assistants, achieving a 24:1 student to TA ratio in the first-year engineering design thinking course sequence each semester o Stresses the role the TAs play in first-year retention through weekly meetings and section check-ins o Implements a teach-the-teacher model by coaching TA team to present and engage first-year students in an active peer-mentoring first-year seminar. Coaches through in-person training and online modules o Placed TAs of color in tutoring roles in safe spaces for students of color to provide greater access and representation to Black/African American and Latinx first-year students with the goal of retention within a College of Engineering and Applied Sciences degree program• Integrates active learning into existing first-year seminar curriculum, exploring topics such as personal, social, and engineering identity-based reflection, goal setting, exam review, and stress management/self-care o Assesses curriculum need based on centralized university and College of Engineering and Applied Sciences first-year experience learning outcomes, adding, removing, and modifying content as fit o Measures first-year student sense of belonging and of engineering identity at various stages in the first year using quantitative and qualitative measurement tools• Schedules, budgets, and implements a living-learning community of 250+ first-year students whose learning outcomes span community building, professional development, and engineering design o Tracks student involvement using attendance reports and reflection surveys within the Canvas LMS• Recruits faculty and graduate students for a young, growing Engineering and Computing Education graduate program• Performs various administrative tasks for the department, such as inputting course orders for upcoming semesters
