ABOUT JENNIFER DHANARAJ
From diplomacy to journalism to tech, my career has always revolved around strategic communication in high-stakes environments. Today, I focus on Trust & Safety, crisis comms, and policy development across ClimateTech, E-Commerce, and EdTech, helping organisations build credibility, resilience, and trust. I’m Strategic Communications Lead at Green Coding Solutions in Berlin, where we’re driving the movement for sustainable software by connecting tech, industry, and policy to cut the environmental impact of code. I began as a journalist at The New Paper in Singapore, telling human stories while breaking down complex policies for everyday readers. As part of the pioneering digital team, I learned how to adapt stories across formats, including print, video, infographics, and make content resonate with audiences. That led me into diplomacy, where I analysed fast-changing developments, turned them into policy recommendations, and managed crisis communications. I learned how to balance transparency with diplomacy while coordinating across governments, media, and stakeholders. In recent years, I’ve brought those skills into tech, helping organisations from startups to global partners, translating complex technical issues into strategies that speak to both developers and policymakers. During COVID, I helped repatriate Singaporeans stranded in India and Pakistan. It meant coordinating with authorities, airlines, and embassies under rapidly changing conditions, while also reassuring citizens with clear, empathetic communication. It was a crash course in crisis leadership and compassionate messaging when lives and families were on the line. I love food and travel; and when I combine the two, I feel invincible. Lately, inspired by my travels, I’ve been working on personal zines as a way to tell stories in a more creative, intimate way.
