As a research assistant in Dr. Raymond Rowland’s laboratory, I contribute to projects focused on infectious diseases of livestock caused by emerging and foreign animal diseases. My work involves supporting virology and immunology studies through experimental design, sample preparation, and data analysis.Key responsibilities include- Conducting molecular and cellular assays to investigate PRRSV infection and host-pathogen interactions- Assisting with virus propagation, titration, and maintenance of cell cultures under BSL-2 conditions- Performing literature reviews to stay current on advancements in PRRSV and swine virology research- Collaborating with graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and faculty to advance ongoing projects.Through this position, I am developing strong technical expertise in virology, laboratory management, and collaborative research, while contributing to discoveries that aim to improve animal health and the livestock industry.
