ABOUT J. B. PERRINE

I am a highly skilled legal advisor and business strategist who thrives on leading teams and seeing those team members achieve success in their collective goals. I strongly value ethics, fairness, and candor. My greatest leadership asset is being honest to my team members, supporting them even when they make mistakes or do not perform as well as desired, and formulating a solid strategy to achieve team goals for a stronger business outcome. From a young age, I was taught, “If you are going to do anything, do it to the best of your ability.” This adage is a personal ethos – I strive to maximize my talents in all I do. Throughout my academic accomplishments, physical experiences and challenges, and broad-based legal background, I have maintained an equilibrium and passion for working on new projects, undertaking exciting opportunities, and acquiring innovative knowledge and new skills.Academically, I have been a Fulbright Scholar to Australia as part of my J.S.D. studies at Yale Law School, and I served as a judicial clerk to a federal circuit court judge. Physically, I have visited over 30 countries, summitted Mt. Rainier and Mt. Kilimanjaro, and hiked the Grand Canyon, rim-to-rim. Professionally, my varied legal background has enabled me to serve as an academic, an attorney at an Am Law 50 firm, a federal prosecutor, a partner in a boutique firm, and currently as in-house counsel for a Fortune 500 Company.Through my strong executive business leadership, tenacious ability to build relationships, and intellectual aptitude, I am able to mitigate risk effectively, quickly grasp complex ideas and systems, and communicate information clearly to diverse audiences and business units. As Assistant General Counsel for Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII), I am a trusted advisor and thought leader as the lead attorney for the Nuclear Aircraft Carrier programs. My experience also includes serving as Chief Counsel for HII\'s Australian business unit as well as litigation and investigation counsel for multiple HII business units.
