JANIS ABRAHMS SPRING, Ph.D, ABPP, is a nationally acclaimed expert on issues of trust, intimacy, and forgiveness. Her first book, After the Affair: Healing the Pain and Rebuilding Trust When a Partner Has Been Unfaithful, has sold more than copies. A revised and updated second edition was released in September, 2012, with a new chapter on affairs in cyberspace. How Can I Forgive You? The Courage to Forgive, The Freedom Not To, was a Books for a Better Life Award finalist in the category of Best Psychology Book. Life with Pop: Lessons on Caring for an Aging Parent, a Living Well Award Silver Medalist, captures the extraordinary, ordinary personal challenges and moments of grace that come with care-giving and growing old. In private practice for 35 years, Dr. Spring is a recipient of the Connecticut Psychological Association’s Award for Distinguished Contribution to the Practice of Psychology and the Connecticut Association of Marriage and Family Therapists Award for Distinguished Family Service. Board Certified in Clinical Psychology, she is a former clinical supervisor in the Department of Psychology at Yale University, and a popular media guest on programs such as NPR and Good Morning America. The originality and clinical richness of her work make her a popular media guest and prized presenter to both public and professional audiences. She and her husband live in Westport, CT, and have four sons and five grandchildren.
