ABOUT JANE WHYATT

I am a freelance journalist, currently researching news and current affairs reports for The New European newspaper about life in Europe and The Leipzig Glocal about life in my corner of eastern Germany. Earlier in my career I was a radio producer making programmes for the BBC, co-founder of three media startups - News on Sunday, Palace Radio Productions Limited and Angel Media Productions CIC. As a regional radio reporter and newsreader, I travelled to cover the Falkland Island conflict and reported on a wide range of news stories including the Brixton riots and the Zeebrugge ferry disaster. My academic career as a lecturer and programme director at London universities City, Westminster, Goldsmiths, Birkbeck and London Met produced hundreds of well-educated journalists and broadcasters and my peer-reviewed research was published in the Humanities journal. I have contributed to academic books on women in radio and global journalism studies and to the Honourable Ladies series of biographies of female MPs.
