ABOUT JAMIE HENN

Hi there! I\'m the Founder and Director of Fossil Free Media, a nonprofit communications lab that supports the movement to break free from fossil fuels. Fossil Free Media provides communications, digital, and creative support to grassroots groups and national coalitions that are taking on the fossil fuel industry and fighting for climate justice. FFM is the home of innovative campaigns like: Clean Creatives, which is pressuring advertising and PR agencies to quit working with the fossil fuel industry to spread climate disinformation; Make Polluters Pay, which is working to hold Big Oil accountable for climate damages; and Sun Day, which is mobilizing support for clean energy solutions. I was previously the Co-founder and Strategy & Communications Director for 350.org, the largest grassroots climate organization in the world. Over the course of a decade with 350.org, I helped build the organization from a group of seven college friends and writer Bill McKibben to a team of over 150 staff in more than a dozen countries. With our incredible team at 350, I helped organize over climate demonstrations in more than 190 countries through multiple days of action; lead the fight against the Keystone XL pipeline and other fossil fuel infrastructure; launch the fossil fuel divestment movement, which has led to over 1,200 institutions representing more than $14 trillion divesting from fossil fuels; advocate for bold action at the UN Climate Talks for over a decade; organize multiple People\'s Climate Marches that brought hundreds of thousands to the streets; bring Greta Thunberg to Washington, D.C. and coordinate the Global Climate Strikes around the world; and more.As 350.org\'s strategic communications director, I managed a team of over a dozen communications staff around the world and secured front page coverage in outlets around the world. I\'ve also led communications for multiple coalition efforts, such as the People\'s Climate March, the #NoKXL campaign,#ExxonKnew, and Stop the Money Pipeline. I also serve on the board of O2 Utah, an environmental nonprofit that gets involved in elections, policy development, and change-making projects. I\'m the co-author of \"Fight Global Warming Now\" and \"The Next Eco-Warriors,\" have appeared on NPR, BBC, CNN, etc, blog too many places to keep track, and still try and get away from the laptop as much as possible. In 2022, Grist was kind of enough to list me as one of their Grist 50 \"Fixers.\" Ok, back to work.
