ABOUT JAMES PITTS

Disciplined and energetic individual with extensive individual and team experience in academic, governmental, corporate, and international settings. As the Head of Materials for BigRep, my focus is the creation and deployment of materials, printing profiles, application information, and technical sales training to empower the utilization of additive manufacturing materials and services. Previously, as the metal systems application technology manager for BASF Forward AM, multiple Ultrafuse catalytic debindable 3d printing filaments were optimized and commercialized. As both owner and contributor I executed extensive R&D, process and application engineering research activities. Once commercialized, I was responsible for the creation and deployment of technical and sales training assets. As an advanced CNC application engineer for DMG MORI, I focused on direct energy deposition, CNC machining and rotary ultrasonic machining of technical ceramics in the support of customer and internal development projects. MSc. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Davis. My master’s research focused on the parametric optimization of rotary ultrasonic machining for the production of Zerodur glass-ceramic optical and structural components. I strive to continually foster professional growth through the advancement and implementation of advanced systems and processes in the manufacturing and associated industries.
