ABOUT JAMES MYERS

25+ years pursuing challenging work, progressing through technical roles, construction, to optimizing operations to meet sustainability and business performance goals. Canada/USA dual citizen with transferrable engineering licensing in both countries. A seasoned strategic program manager standing on a solid foundation gained from engineering design and construction project management experience, continuous improvement, and organizational change management initiatives. A deep-rooted drive to serve the people around me. This manifests in several ways, most notably a desire to protect the environment that we share, and to create engaged and high performing teams. As a member of the management team, I have gained comprehensive experience in all areas of energy conservation and carbon emission reductions, clean energy, renewable energy, and bio-fuels. Research, pilot projects and implementation of clean technology. Regulatory filings that enable decarbonization and reduce transition risk to electrification. Economic analysis of project options, finance options and leverage of government funding. Contract negotiation and procurement of energy supplies and zero-emission vehicles. Extension of learnings gained from energy and carbon reduction efforts to other areas of sustainability and environmental science, such as water management. During my 10 years at Teck Resources my team has reduced our total energy costs by 10%, or $20M. We have developed phase 1 of our corporate roadmap to Carbon Neutral which takes us to our 2030 goals.
