ABOUT JADE GUTHRIE
as a queer, mixed-race food justice educator and community organizer, I believe in the power of food as a meeting point – as a tool that creates spaces for people to come together. my approach to food systems learning and transformation is shaped by intersectional feminism, anti-racism, and anti-colonial pedagogies, and is fuelled by joy and liberation. with Jamaican, Chinese, mixed European, and Mi\'kmaq roots, my engagement with food justice and food sovereignty is shaped by my own familial histories of farming, trapping, and cooking. i\'m always working on building meaningful relationships with food, community, and land. beyond my 9-5 at FoodShare, I am a community organizer with Justicia for Migrant Workers, an advocacy co-lead on the Toronto Youth Food Policy Council, and sit on the Black Food Sovereignty Action Plan Advisory Circle. I am also an avid baker, enthusiastic dumpling-eater, wannabe sommelier, and reality-tv fanatic.
