ABOUT JACQUES BILODEAU

Jacques Bilodeau President, Sphere Animation Jacques Bilodeau is a well-known figure in the Canadian audiovisual and digital industry, and for good reason. With over 40 years of experience, this entrepreneur with unerring intuition is a beacon in the animation world. Mr. Bilodeau started out in the field by founding his own post-production, animation and special effects company, PMT Vidéo. Then, after a stint at the Télé-Métropole TV network, he created Toon Boom Technologies in 1994. With its revolutionary software, this Quebec company became the world leader in digital animation software, garnering an Emmy Award for engineering, and working with renowned such as clients as Disney, Warner Bros. DreamWorks, Gaumont and Nelvana. Always ahead of the curve, Mr. Bilodeau founded Oasis Animation in 2003. This 2D animation studio was equipped with a state-of-the-art digital infrastructure, including Toon Boom’s Harmony software, and relied on a team of experts with unique know-how. Oasis was involved in the production of many children’s series, such as Caillou, Arthur and Curious George, as well as series for adult audiences, such as F is for Family and Paradise City. The growing studio has collaborated with local broadcasters such as the CBC, TVA Group and Teletoon, as well as giants such as Netflix, Universal, Disney, NBC and PBS. Its founder has built a considerable network of international contacts. As a producer at Oasis, Mr. Bilodeau has brought several successful shows to life. Among these are Pérusse Cité, which earned him two Gémeaux awards for best animated series, and Les Grandes Gueules s’animent. The year 2019 was an important milestone in Mr. Bilodeau’s career. Oasis Animation and Quiet Motion, a documentary production company that he also founded, were both acquired by Sphere Media. Now heading Sphere Animation, Mr. Bilodeau continues his mission and aims to develop more original creations with his team of talented artists. Among the current productions benefiting from his expertise are two highly anticipated series: Red Ketchup and Riley Rocket.
