ABOUT JAKE MALTHOUSE

For more than 20 years, I’ve been at the forefront of sustainability, technology, and innovation, combining data-backed empathetic leadership with a deep commitment to creating measurable, lasting impact. As one of the founders of the ESG movement and co-creator of the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI), I’ve helped shape a global framework adopted by institutions managing over $70 trillion in assets. At the United Nations Environment Program Finance Initiative, I co-led the first global study on ESG materiality, building consensus with 18 financial institutions, including Goldman Sachs and Citigroup. This work laid the foundation for what would become the PRI, aligning financial markets with sustainable practices.Later, I co-founded the.eco top-level domain, assembling one of the largest environmental coalitions ever created—over 50 nonprofits, including WWF and Greenpeace. Under my leadership, the registry achieved profitability within 12 months, expanded operations to 170 countries, and garnered an 80% renewal rate, with clients such as Google, Tesla, and Patagonia. This milestone exemplifies my ability to combine financial precision with mission-driven innovation.Throughout my career, I’ve worked to redefine how organizations achieve growth. At Foresight Cleantech Accelerator Centre, I secured over $1 million in corporate and government funding in under eight months, scaled the innovation team from 2 to 8, and launched SDG Connect, an award-winning platform linking Canadian cleantech entrepreneurs with global opportunities. My leadership has extended across finance, cleantech, digital governance, and space, with my work featured in outlets such as The Financial Times, The Guardian, and The New York Times.I’ve also led high-stakes advocacy efforts, including the Save Dot Org campaign, which mobilized global support to block the sale of the.org domain to private equity, protecting critical nonprofit infrastructure for millions of organizations worldwide. My leadership philosophy centers on blending data-driven strategies with a people-first approach, ensuring teams feel empowered to turn ambitious ideas into actionable results. Whether it’s mentoring innovators, designing scalable business models, or navigating regulatory complexities, I thrive in helping organizations overcome challenges and achieve meaningful impact.
