Leading translational research projects focused on Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) and Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) using murine models to investigate organ-level pathophysiology. Current focus on cardio-renal syndrome and left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH)-Develop and characterize cardiomyocytes derived from mouse heart tissue to model disease mechanisms and evaluate pharmacological interventions-Apply a range of molecular biology techniques to study gene and protein expression.Conduct histological analyses involving tissue sectioning and high-resolution imaging for pathological evaluation of heart and kidney tissues-Perform in vivo experiments including mouse colony management, genotyping (WT, HET, HOM), and phenotypic assessments in disease models-Manage tissue culture experiments with immortalized lines, primary cells, iPSCs, and cardiomyocytes-Coordinate cross-functional collaborations with institutional core facilities such as the Center for Biometric Analysis, Gene Technology Laboratory, and Genotyping Laboratory to enhance research impact-Design and executed experiments, analyzed data, developed proposals, grants, manuscripts and presentations for national and international scientific meetings.
