ABOUT IVAN URZHUMOV

My practice concentrates on international litigation, as well as commercial and investment arbitration (ICC, UNCITRAL, ICSID, SCC, LCIA) and legal advice in relation to cross-border transactions and international investment projects. I have experience working for clients from oil & gas, R&D, electricity, telecommunications, waste management, automotive, and other industries.Representative cases- Successful representation of an Eastern European State before French and Luxembourg courts against a Luxembourg company concerning the enforcement of an arbitral award rendered under the auspices of the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce (SCC)- Acting for a North African public utility in an ICC arbitration against a foreign contractor involving a large scale infrastructure project in the electricity sector- Advising an international petroleum corporation concerning tax claims raised by an African State under the production sharing agreements- Representing a client in multiple French trial court and appelate proceedings relating to the enforcement in France of a large arbitral award issued against an Eastern European State-owned company in the telecommunications sector- Counsel to France-domiciled recycling company set up by several leading producers of electrical and electronic equipment in two distinct ICC arbitrations involving German and French logistics service providers- Acting in French proceedings for the enforcement of an ICSID award rendered against a South American State, as well as in connection with the seizure of assets in France for the payment of such award.
