ABOUT INEZ JABALPURWALA
Innovator, builder, leader and fierce believer in both the excellence of Canada’s brain community and the power of multi-disciplinary research and collaboration to deliver breakthrough advancements in scientific knowledge and public health. For nearly 20 years, I had the privilege of serving as founding President and CEO of Brain Canada. From concept to execution, Brain Canada became a leader in connecting researchers, platforms, institutions, organizations and sectors from across the research community to study the brain as a single, interconnected system; I called this \"a smarter way to invest in research\". This approach yielded significant progress from the lab to the clinic – as well as in attracting over $400 million in new investment to this critical area of research where we need to accelerate advancements. My time in this role provided me with opportunities to collaborate with governments at all levels, participate in international panels and forums where Canada’s exceptional brain research could be held up as a model, and a platform for advancing my passion for gender and other diversity, equity and inclusion in research and innovation. Since leaving, I have been working on a new initiative that is leveraging my expertise and network and bringing catalytic leadership to a new and urgently important area: how viruses and other global environmental phenomena may affect brain health.
