ABOUT IGOR RYJENKOV MW
I am a seasoned wine business professional and key decision-maker. I have extensive hands-on market-place insight from the retail floor to the large-scale buyer’s experience. I was the driving force behind the growth of a $440M portfolio to a half a billion mark in under five years. My expertise covers key aspects of buying and route-to-market solutions. I am well equipped to address a wide range of challenges faced by individuals, small businesses and corporations. They span from the cellar management issues and wine sourcing decisions to helping brands find a route to the Ontario market; from enhancing private or corporate events to optimizing a brand proposition to help it find its right audience and place in the market. My skillset allowing me to successfully address those challenges has been informed by my two plus decades in the business, extensive studies and unique work experience. The building blocks of this singular skillset are the years of helping retail customers, my WSET and Master of Wine credentials (first MW in Canada in 2003), teaching and networks, time on IWEG and IMW(NA) Boards, progressive buying roles with one of the largest buyers and retailers of alcoholic beverages in the world, and extensive travel to well over 30 countries, covering all continents but Antarctica.
