ABOUT IGOR CVETKOVIC

Igor Cvetkovic received his Dipl-Ing. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Belgrade in 2004, with a focus on Power Systems. After working for several years at the Electric Power Industry of Serbia as an Engineer for Regulation & Maintenance of Excitation Systems for Large Synchronous Generators and Electrostatic Precipitators, Igor joined the Center for Power Electronics Systems (CPES) at Virginia Tech in 2008 as a Master of Science student. Upon obtaining his MS degree in 2010 Igor started his full-time position as a Research Engineer at CPES and concurrently pursued part-time Ph.D. studies in Power Electronics, which he completed in 2017. Following his doctorate, Igor served as a Research Scientist and Technical Director at CPES, supporting the center’s leadership in pursuing strategic initiatives and defining research directions. In this role, he also co-advised graduate students alongside CPES faculty and conducted research in the domain of system-level design, modeling, control, and stability of power electronics-based distribution systems, spanning applications from nanogrids and microgrids to high-voltage high-power AC and DC systems. In 2022, Igor joined Booz Allen Hamilton and currently holds the Senior Lead Engineer position serving as Science, Engineering, and Technology Advisor at Advanced Research Projects Agency for Energy (ARPA-E) in Washington, D.C. Igor has been a member of the and the Power Electronics Society since 2008 and has co-authored over 80 publications in the areas of power converters design, modeling and control, system-level dynamic interactions, and in-situ characterization of power electronics converters and systems.
