ABOUT IAN BROOKER

I graduated in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from City University in London. During my career I have worked for both large and small organisations in various roles, including Design, Manufacture, Service/Support, Applications, Business Development, Program Management and Regulatory Affairs. My specialities include: Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS), Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), Low Frequency Radio, Electromagnetic Fields, Human Exposure and Exposure of Medical Devices. My experience has covered software and hardware, high and low voltage, and with frequencies ranging from sub-1Hz to 2.4GHz. I have a strong focus on relationships, especially with regard to products, product delivery and performance. I have been an active contributor to the International Standards and Regulations arena since the early 1990’s. I have negotiated at International, National and Agency level, and am a member of Standards groups in IEC, CENELEC, ETSI and CEPT, taking leadership roles in a number of these committees. In addition, I am a member of the Euralarm delegation to the EU RED Expert Group which advises the EU Commission regarding the Radio Equipment Directive.The customer, regulations and government related roles have required presentation and negotiation skills as well as maintaining a professional and ethical view in conflict situations.
