ABOUT HERMIA C.
Hi, I’m Hermia Chan, a climate policy young professional from Hong Kong, now making my home in Berlin. My passion for climate action began early, and I believe that well-designed carbon pricing and market policies are a key part of the solution. My work revolves around emissions trading systems, carbon taxes, border carbon adjustments and Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, with 2+ years experience in research, policy analysis, and capacity building. I am currently working as a Project Assistant with the International Carbon Action Partnership (ICAP) and adelphi, while pursuing my Master of Public Policy at the Hertie School, where I concentrate on climate policy and governance. Beyond my professional and academic pursuits, I am dedicated to youth mobilization and inclusion in climate policy decisions. I currently volunteer as the contact point for YOUNGO’s Finance and Market Working Group, which allows me to bring youth voices directly into climate finance and market negotiations (SB60, COP29, SB62 and COP30). This journey began with co-founding a student-led climate organization back in Hong Kong.🩰 When I’m not immersed in policy, I\'m a freelance ballet dancer, a childhood dream that allows me to channel creativity, discipline, and expression in new ways. I have performed lead roles in school productions and won prizes at the Dance World Cup (2021) and the International Dance Competition Berlin (2024). I am open to ad-hoc opportunities in both climate policy and performing art. Whether you\'re interested in collaborating on a project, looking for a speaker, or just want to exchange ideas on climate or creativity, I\'d love to connect!
