At abrdn my role as UI Lead involves being responsible for the creation, maintenance and evolution of our Design System which contains components used to build our websites and apps. Working closely with the UX team, I design responsive UI elements and ensure a high standard of handover with the Development team to allow for an accurate and great quality build output. I’m responsible for the design of web pages for different screen sizes and breakpoints. I use Figma to design these pages using our Design System component library, which allows for a fast and efficient workflow. Working with wider team members and external agencies, I plan and delegate tasks to be done and review all UI work before it gets handed over to the wider business for review, and to developers for build. At abrdn we know user testing is incredibly important and feel strongly about customer centred design approach, and use data to drive our decision making process when working on our websites and apps. Being involved in this allows for an iterative design approach and helps me to learn and continually evolve our digital products and solutions.
