ABOUT HAYDN BROWN

I am Haydn Brown, a floorcare intelligence engineer at Dyson, working in New Product Innovation to develop novel technologies, and implement them into new products.Throughout my academic career, I have been interested in a broad variety of STEM fields, undertaking AP courses in physics, chemistry and biology whilst at high school in Canada, along with a variety of math, engineering and design courses. Once I travelled to the UK to further my studies at the Dyson Institute of Engineering Technology, I also retained an interest in varied fields, choosing a specialization in electromechanical engineering in order to continue developing my mechanical, electronics and software knowledge. In September 2023, I graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering from Dyson Institute of Engineering Technology, with my degree awarded through Warwick Manufacturing Group.During my time at Dyson as an undergraduate, I undertook rotations in the motors, electronics hardware, product verification, energy research, New Product Innovation, and robotics teams, broadening my knowledge and skill sets. This was complimented by my final year project where I undertook a research and experimentation project, in order to understand and develop new technologies for Dyson. For my work in this field, I was awarded a joint prize for Best Project at Dyson during my graduation ceremony.Since my graduation, I have had the pleasure of working in Korea to further understand the needs of Dyson’s customers around the world, and develop better products to suit their needs and lifestyle. During this time I had a great opportunity to host a press briefing for Korean newspapers on the launch of the Dyson wash G1. My exposure to a culture on the other side of the world has left me in a better position to advocate for end customers when designing new products and has left me with a better understanding of their real needs.I am passionate about CAD, 3D visualization, graphics, and interactive experiences and have spent my spare time learning new programs. I am already familiar with SketchUp, OnShape, Autodesk AutoCAD, Siemens NX, and Blender, and am currently learning Godot, and Unreal Engine.
