ABOUT HARSHDEEP GULATI

People are at the centre of everything, even when considering data which is ubiquitous in modern society. What excites me most is how data can be used to create a positive impact for people and society as a whole.Fascinated by how data can be analysed to uncover insights like hidden treasure, I joined the LSE Data Analytics Career Accelerator course to deepen my knowledge and technical skills. This hands-on practical course using live, simulated projects has given me experience in- Using Python to clean, wrangle and analyse data- Using machine learning to create predictive models- Analysing text data using NLP- Creating dashboards that effectively and concisely tell a story through data visualisations.I enjoy creative but data-driven approaches to problem-solving and achieving business objectives. Furthermore, my interdisciplinary background of psychology, behavioural science, marketing, technology, and data analytics, grant me a unique perspective when considering potential solutions. I make it a priority to constantly develop and learn. I love to find ways to increase my knowledge and experience. Through honing my skills, I find better ways to delve into raw data and explore it, uncovering hidden insights and patterns that can be used to create real-world change to the benefit of people. I recently put this into practice as the winner of the “Hack for Good” social enterprise hackathon. During this event, I led a team of 5 to present an innovative use of natural fibres to replace steel and aluminium in bicycles. Our project aimed to reduce gas emissions and give fairer trade to jute farmers in Bangladesh. Through live research with cyclists in Greenwich, I collected and analysed sentiment responses to shape our business model which showed projections to reduce production costs by 50% and increase revenue for jute farmers by 100% through direct trade routes. The project was commended for its level of detail, high quality of data analysis and strong presentation.Everyone experiences pressure in life. Whether it be from personal tasks or professional deadlines, it is an inevitable aspect of life. The important part is finding a lifestyle that offers the kind of pressure that lets you thrive. I work best under constant pressure that pushes me to learn and improve my skills.I am a proud advisory board member for Rain On Me, a mental health non-profit. Through international and London-based peer support groups, Rain on Me offers a safe space for young people to share their hardships and feel empowered to take charge of their life.
