Emergency responder for marine mammal strandings and observer in live seal scoutings. Completed training (Level 1 and 2) in emergency management and rehabilitation to care for stranded dolphins at the Dolphin Rescue Center’s Cetacean Intensive Care Unit (CICU) in Jan 2024. Completed specialty training for veterinary assistant role to care for CICU patients at the Dolphin Rescue Center in May 2024.

ABOUT HALLEY MYERS
I graduated from University in Rhode Island in May 2020, receiving my Bachelor of Science in Biology. I am passionate about biological research in its application to marine ecology. This passion stemmed from a lifetime of love for the outdoors and curiosity in the natural world around me. It was cultivated through fieldwork conducted in Australia, knowledge gained in various courses at URI, and professional experience in my roles as a PSO/MMO, Environmental & Water Quality Technician, Industry Funded Scallop Observer, and Marine Scientist & Field Ecologist. I currently volunteer for IFAW\'s Marine Mammal Rescue & Research (MMRR) team as an Emergency Responder, CICU Volunteer, and Veterinary Assistant. I have participated in dolphin, seal, and turtle necropsies at Woods Hole. In my free time, I enjoy surfing, scuba diving, photography, and writing.As I think about my next steps, I am interested in pursuing higher education relating to marine biology, education, and ocean conservation. I am also highly interested in marine animal behavior, evolution, and natural history - I believe that in order to best know how to change the future, we must study and learn from the past. Throughout my career development journey, I ultimately wish to engage in research opportunities that will fuel my curiosity and allow for learning, deeper understanding, collaboration, and the development of plausible solutions leading to long-term, healthy change and increased resiliency.
