ABOUT GUSTAVO G. DE TORRE

Gustavo is currently CEO & President in City Makers, a multidisciplinary group of associated experts in different fields related to sustainable development and smart cities. He is currently studying for a Master’s Degree in Artificial Intelligence at Big School and Universidad Isabel I of Castilla.He\'s the Former General Manager México in BUSUP, a bus ride-sharing platform that aim at disrupting the traditional coach sector through technology and innovation, in order to contribute to a more sustainable, flexible and efficient mobility. He study the International Master in Smart City Management at the University of Barcelona and the Zigurat Global Institute of Technology. He is the former leader the Mobility Strategy of the Government of Aguascalientes, Mexico, as a General Director of Mobility supported by citizen movements that work in programs of infrastructure and culture of mobility in the city. Furthermore, he is part of the network that promotes walking, cycling and urban transport in Mexico.Gustavo holds a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sciences. His concern about the world surrounding him drove him to develop different activities to preserve the environment. In 2009, former President of Mexico, Felipe Calderón awarded him with the Premio Nacional de la Juventud (National Youth Prize), for being one of the most important environmental leaders in the country in this field.He was part of the National Council for the Environment from the United Nations development program. He also chaired the Environment Committee of the Citizen Council of Youth in Mexico.Gustavo was one of the leaders of the bicycle movement in his native town, Aguascalientes, which has the highest rate of car ownership per capita in Mexico. Interestingly, it is also the city with one of the highest bicycle mode shares in the country, with 4.5% of the total trips, which makes it the second city in Mexico for highest use of cycling.He dreams of sustainable and competitive cities in Latin America that are economically strong with lower emissions, with active and engaged citizens who participate as leaders in planning and designing their own city.
