Energy Recovery builds Pressure Exchangers (PXs). These devices are found in every large desalination plant in the world. My role has been to enhance the value of the PX in desalination while evolving the technology in a new market: CO2 Refrigeration. My team operates as an internal startup focused on learning and developing this new technology. Specifically- Operated, programmed, and improved 120kW CO2 in-house refrigeration experimental test loop- Own data pipeline from instrument to dashboard (python data analysis)- Lead 6 person team to execute social investment budget. Design, propose, and execute corporate donations and volunteer events- Travel domestically and internationally to collect performance metrics at CO2 refrigeration grocery stores- Designed and defended innovative 150kW CO2 test loop to recycle process heat. Built 0D and 1D Thermal Model in Engineering Equation Solver (EES) to design and size system. Components sized include Pumps, Heat Exchangers, Control Valves, Piping, Flash Tank, Oil Separator, Compressors, Water Filters, Cooling Towers, Fittings, Flow Meters- Identified 1M gallons of water waste / year. Designed and proposed cross-function project to reduce testing water waste by 70%. Designed a 50gpm reverse-osmosis (RO) system to recycle waste fluid and act as demonstration plant for RO Pressure Exchanger. Funding acquisition currently pending- Automated mixing test on desalination test loop. System reduces test head count by 50%.(In Progress)
