Since deciding to retire early, I have been living a Portfolio Life*. Primary activities in my portfolio include board work, mentoring, and volunteering.I am a director and former chair of the board at SBLI, a Massachusetts-based mutual insurance company that offers individual life and annuity products in 49 US states. For 3 years I served as a corporate director on the board at Assuris, a not-for-profit organization that protects Canadian policyholders if their life insurance company should fail.I greatly enjoy mentoring numerous young professionals who wish to enhance their career and personal development. These relationships, some dating back to the provide rich rewards for me too, both personally and professionally.I give my time and the benefit of my experience to selected charitable and professional organizations that in the past have included Covenant House Toronto, WXN Women\'s Executive Network, and Fora.When working full-time as a highly respected senior executive, I was responsible for running regulated businesses in Canada, the US, and Bermuda. I have extensive experience developing and implementing business strategies in North America, Asia, and Europe. I am known for successfully leading major change, including mergers and acquisitions. I have recognized expertise in sales management working through sophisticated distribution channels.
