I teach a range of physical and human geography classes. My research trajectory over the past few years focuses on forest management, payment for ecosystem services, drought and water resources, and more generally on policies which mitigate land-use change and climate change. My regional interest is Latin America and the American West. Philosophically, my goal and my job is to show my students and readers that how we relate to the natural environment makes us healthy, wealthy, and prosperous - or otherwise - depending on the belief systems and lifestyle habits that we espouse.
