Communication. It should be straight forward shouldn’t it? Telling people what we want them to know. Job done. But the trick is to communicate effectively, to the right people, with clarity and purpose in a way that engages and gets the message across in a relatable and relevant way. That’s when communication starts to have impact and effect change. That’s the part I love. Twenty years of communicating and counting. I build strategic campaigns for organisations to educate, influence and help deliver their agenda: assessing how to reach multiple audiences, developing messaging that actually says something, and unlocking opportunities that add value. The right approach could be long term engagement with a local community; it could be positioning a message in the corridors of Holyrood; it could be briefing journalists to ensure an informed debate in the media; and, when times get tough, it could be managing a crisis behind the scenes to minimise reputational damage. I provide hands-on guidance, strategic support and training directly to a number of organisations across the energy, health, construction, waste, recycling, transport and food & drinks industries and more.
