To be a successful Interior Design Director you must have strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills to manager the team, work with lead designer(s) and interact with clients effectively with the ability to convey design ideas. RESPONSIBILITIES //- interpreting and translating customer needs into rough plans - outline client design objectives - schedule and calendar design meetings - manage design assistants day to day tasks and delegate responsibilities when needed- client communication - conceptualize and create storyboards and mockups for clients and the design team to visualize the completed project * determine cost of completion and project requirements in the budgeting phase - set timelines for completion of projects - source materials and products included in plans - choosing design elements for different projects - create inspiration/mood boards to sample design vision - supervise work progress with trades - utilize computer applications in the design process - organize and assist in organization of products/inventory and coordinate deliveries with team which might require lifting and physical requirements- inspect design after completion to determine whether client goals have been met - review feedback from clients and make alterations according to the clients needs - oversee the design projects from start to finish, and monitoring the team members to ensure they adhere to budget and timeline constraints- research and follow industry changes, market research, evolutions and best practices
