ABOUT GORD MOONEY
I am an active board member and retired bank executive with 45 years of experience in financial services, including business development, tactical sales management and senior executive leadership. I’m passionate about small and medium size businesses and I’m open to opportunities to serve in board oversight or advisory roles with firms that would benefit from my broad range of experience leading teams to success. I\'m most proud of my role in leading General Bank of Canada, a Schedule 1 chartered bank from inception to a $2.6 Billion sustainable enterprise that will stand for generations. After joining in 2005, I grew the company from a humble company of four and a hyper specialized offering of retail auto financing to a diversified and sophisticated organization that became “too big to be small”. I led investments in compliance, enterprise risk, treasury management, human resources, and corporate governance.In 2022 I retired from GBC, seventeen years after the banks inception, proud of our many accomplishments, and satisfied knowing that I was leaving behind a solid, profitable and sustainable business which a new leader could take to the next level of greatness in the increasingly complex, competitive and regulated world of financial services. Since retirement, I have enjoyed my free time cycling, playing golf, working out, travelling and spending time with family. I’ve also enjoyed working with other smaller enterprises both as a member of a Board of Directors and as an Advisory Board participant.
