In 1997 I was co-chair with Shaun Amy (CSIRO) of the AARNet2 Technical Working Group. After AARNet2 was deployed I was seconded from The University of Adelaide to be the lead network engineer for the deployed network. Major achievements were converting client-side routing from OSPF to BGP, rolling out IPv6, MPLS for efficient use of AARNet\'s initial international capacity, and the IP networking side of a nationwide VoIP toll-bypass for the Australian universities and CSIRO.In 2002 I was loaned to GrangeNet to do their network build. Dr Greg Wickham and Chris Myers did most other technical tasks on that network.In 2006 Mark Prior did the design of the new AARNet3 network (based on dark fibre acquired from NextGen and international capacity from SCCN). I did the on-the-ground deployment, rolling out two core routers a week. During this era of the AARNet network I co-lead the working group with which rolled out Eduroam throughout Australia\'s universities and research institutions; Stephen Walsh and many other people were great collaborators. I designed and deployed the first MPLS VPN services on AARNet.I was key to the earliest stages of AARNet\'s efforts to develop consulting and eResearch activities. Having been kick-started these activities are now staffed by recruited professionals.Because I often deal with cutting-edge technology I often have to evangelise and train staff and clients in these technologies: BGP, IPv6, VoIP, QoS, end-to-end performance, SDN. gives a taste of the training I have developed and conducted.I am a Linux user and have contributed to many free software projects.I am now responsible for AARNet\'s infrastructure and clients in South Australia. AARNet\'s design roles moved to Sydney and Melbourne and I chose to remain in Adelaide for family and lifestyle reasons. Because of my experience I am often called on to assist with problematic networking issues and to lead point solutions.
