ABOUT GARETH KNOPP

At my role of Engineering Innovation & Simulation Manager, my main focus is investigating new technology to improve the Bucher Municipal Sweepers range of products. This involves working with Universities and technology consultants and providers. Day to day I manage a multidisciplinary team of engineers, from Structural Analysis, CFD, 1D, mechanical, systems & software, and how they integrate into new product development streams. Looking at Big Data gathering to improve products and identify new steps and leverage technology within the engineering department, and throughout the company for predictive analysis & predictive maintenance. This is with a focus of generating digital twin instances / prototypes. Recently had my third Patent Granted for the SmoothFlow technology used in the MaxPowa V series sweepers, and currently have 2 more patent pending all related to Fan systems. This advancement was developed using conventional RANS CFD tools. My job description covers many aspects, and I often work as a trouble shooter and general guru! Our current main research project is the Investigation of Artificial Intelligence as it pertains to the application of Road Sweepers. Currently investigating Computer vision and sensor fusion system to inform decision algorithms for control purposes.
