ABOUT GIULIA CECILI
GIS and Remote Sensing specialist with experience in geospatial analysis, Earth Observation data and machine learning techniques.Currently working as a Technologist at ISPRA (Italian Institute for Environmental Protection and Research), where I focus on spatial analysis, geospatial data management, and LULUCF compilant cartographic production. My work includes the use of Copernicus Land Monitoring Service (CLMS) products for land cover and land use analysis, as well as the spatialization of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. I regularly work with ESRI software (ArcGIS Pro, Model Builder) and QGIS, and I contribute to backend workflows and geospatial database management (PostgreSQL/PostGIS, SQL).I also provide training for the public sector through IRIDELab courses on GIS (basic and advanced levels) and remote sensing.I hold a PhD in Ecology and Territory, where I worked with geospatial data and applied artificial neural networks—particularly Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs)—to satellite imagery (Sentinel, Landsat). My research included projects on AI-based classification of Earth Observation data and a research period at the Centre Tecnològic de Telecomunicacions de Catalunya (CTTC) in Barcelona.Previously, I obtained a degree in Environmental and Territorial Engineering from Sapienza University of Rome, with a thesis focused on AI applications for land monitoring.In addition to technical skills, I have developed excellent problem-solving skills and a strong aptitude for working in interdisciplinary teams. I am constantly looking for new challenges and opportunities to apply my knowledge in innovative and dynamic contexts.
