ABOUT JONATHAN KNAPP

I am a geologist and explorer. My work has focused on the application of the principals of scientific decision making and data-driven analysis to reduce risk in government and industry. At Bruker Nano Analytics I am focused on the application of analytical technology to solve the toughest problems in industry and academia. I am particularly interested in the incorporation of multi-scale (meter to micron) elemental analysis into exploration and development workflows. My scientific specialty is sedimentology and stratigraphy, focusing on the integration of datasets at various scales with depositional facies models to solve basin-scale problems. I am most interested in continental rift basins and the transition from continental to marine driven by non-eustatic forcing. To accomplish this we need greater refinement of modern depositional models in environments that are considered rare or extreme on earth today and detailed examination of previous depositional systems on a global scale.
