ABOUT GÜNTER EGGERS

Sustainable digital infrastructure is not a contradiction in terms. For me, it\'s one of the defining challenges of our time.Data centers are the foundation of our digital society, yet rarely understood. Public debate about them is too often shaped by misconceptions, incomplete information, and a lack of technical context. That’s where I come in.As Director Public Affairs & Spokesperson at NTT Global Data Centers EMEA, I see my role not as an advocate for an industry, but as someone who explains, contextualizes, and bridges the gap between technical complexity and public understanding. My mission: enabling informed decisions. Whether I’m speaking with policymakers drafting energy legislation, journalists covering the digital infrastructure debate, or communities near planned data center sites, I believe in fact-based, accessible communication that respects every stakeholder’s perspective. What I bring to the table: a deep technical understanding of data centers, digital infrastructure, and telecommunications. In-depth knowledge of energy policy, grid economics, and the realities of the energy transition. A track record of translating complex technical and regulatory topics into clear public narratives. And the ability to see compound interdependencies and communicate them without losing the audience. I regularly speak at industry events and congresses on topics including energy efficiency, sustainability, waste heat utilization, critical infrastructure, and digital sovereignty. I am also a frequent contributor to trade publications, podcasts, and broadcast media, including national TV.On a voluntary basis, I serve as a board member of the German Data Centers Association (GDA), the Bitkom Data Center Working Group, and the eco Alliance for Digital Infrastructures in Germany.I’m guided by a simple principle: be factually rigorous, be honest about trade-offs, and treat every conversation partner with respect, even in disagreement.
