Belfast, GB

Belfast Harbour is a fast-moving environment, and my role is all about building relationships, identifying new business opportunities, and helping our customers succeed. Whether it’s working with shipping lines, local receivers, cruise operators, or logistics providers, I focus on making sure Belfast Harbour is not just a port, but a partner in their growth.A big part of my work is developing the cruise business, ensuring Belfast remains a key destination for cruise lines. This means strengthening relationships with operators, exploring new opportunities alongside Visit Belfast, and making sure we deliver a top-class experience for visiting ships and passengers.Beyond cruise, I work across business development, account management, and contract negotiation, always looking for ways to improve efficiency, enhance customer experience, and ensure long-term success for our stakeholders.

ABOUT GARY HALL

I’ve spent over 25 years in shipping, port operations, and commercial development, working at the heart of a fast-moving industry that thrives on collaboration and innovation. My experience comprises ro-ro terminal operations, vessel load planning, business development, and process improvement, but at its core, my career has always been about building strong relationships and finding solutions that drive efficiency and growth. Recently, I’ve been particularly focused on developing Belfast Harbour’s cruise business and strengthening relationships with cruise line customers, ensuring our port continues to be a key destination for the industry.I believe in straightforward communication, strategic thinking, and making things work better - whether it’s enhancing logistics, negotiating contracts, or developing new opportunities. Over the years, I’ve learned that success in this industry isn’t just about systems and processes, it’s about people, trust, and adaptability.Education wasn’t always my strong point - I was often told at school that I had potential but needed to apply myself. Now, years into a successful career, I’ve taken the opportunity to build on my experience by studying for a BSc (Hons) in Management Practice at Ulster University. Through my studies, I’ve explored key areas like leadership, digital marketing, and the future of work, all of which add fresh perspectives to my commercial experience. By combining my real-world expertise with new insights, I’m enjoying adapting, innovating, and applying modern approaches to both traditional and evolving industries.I’m always happy to discuss commercial development, maritime logistics, and the cruise sector. If you\'d like to connect and exchange insights, feel free to reach out.
