ABOUT GABRIEL LIMA

I’m a Mechanical Engineering student at York University with a passion for reinventing how vehicle systems work- blending creativity, performance, and practicality to improve everyday mobility. My dream is to work in motorsports, where engineering decisions push the limits of design and precision truly matters.As Head of Drivetrain at Lassonde Motorsports (FSAE), I lead the development of our racecar’s drivetrain- from component selection and CAD design to integration with the chassis and collaboration across sub-teams. Previously, as Vice-Head of Body & Aero, I helped shape our chassis design and ensured compliance with FSAE rules, working closely with teams like steering and suspension to get the details right.Beyond FSAE, I’ve worked on a 3-speed transmission for a remote-controlled car and co-developed a wheelchair assistance module prototype. Whether I’m modeling parts in SolidWorks or sketching concepts on paper, I love solving mechanical challenges that combine form and function.I also freelance as a Seiko-mod watch builder- a hands-on hobby that sharpens my attention to detail and keeps me grounded in mechanical design on a smaller scale.When I’m not in the lab or buried in CAD models, you’ll probably find me watching Formula 1, playing guitar, or catching up with friends at a soccer pitch- the simple joys that fuel my passion for engineering and life.I\'m currently seeking internship or early career opportunities in the automotive and motorsport industries, where I can grow as an engineer, contribute to high-performance teams, and begin building systems that make an impact.If you\'re hiring or looking to connect with motivated talent in mechanical design, feel free to reach out!
