ABOUT GABRIELE ACCARDO
I have more than 20 years of international experience in competition and EU law, including Italian and EU/international antitrust merger control, FDI clearances, cartel enforcement, distribution issues, dominance as well as unfair commercial practices, in a wide range of sectors. When things go sour, I assist clients in appeals and litigation. As we live in a time of constant changes and developments (not all for the better), I also advise clients on EU and regulatory law matters, including on data and sustainability issues intersecting competition law and unfair commercial practices. AI is going to be the next BIG thing, in every aspect of our daily life. Not surprisingly, You bet: I am on it. As Research Fellow at the Transatlantic Technology Law Forum of Stanford Law School, I authored a research paper on online distribution. As it happens, during my fellowship at Stanford, I met a friend with whom I co-founded Innoventually, an open innovation platform, with the aim of lowering barriers to innovation. That experience was simply illuminating and mind-blowing. During the life of the company, I used to be its GC on any single day, but also the BD and marketing guy. When need be I entertained relationships with stakeholders, and exercised on communication. There is no MBA for all this. I am originally from Palermo (Sicily), but I currently live and work in Milan where I am the co-head of the Antitrust Regulation and Foreign Investment practice of Ashurst. I am regularly (back) in Brussels where I used to work for about 12 years in two international law firms.Clients say about me:\"Gabriele is very responsive and has a deep knowledge of EU and Italian antitrust laws\" Legal 50•••20 (EU and Competition)\"Gabriele makes complex issues simple and understandable. This is extremely useful, especially in an ever-changing market with stakeholders who need ethical, sustainable and practical solutions.\"Legal 50•••21 (EU and Competition)
