ABOUT GABRIEL DURAN REHBEIN

I approach scientific research from a clinical and entrepreneurial perspective to better understand how brain cancer operates and how new insights can be leveraged to identify novel treatment options that benefit patients. Combining the foundations of medical training with translational research my expertise comprises patient care, drug discovery in cancer biology, and science communication. This interdisciplinary approach allows for the ideation of creative solutions to complex problems with real-world impact. Currently a post-doctoral research fellow in a cutting-edge neuro-oncology laboratory at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, I focus primarily on highly translational research focused on developing and testing new treatment strategies for primary brain tumors. I am also a marketing associate of the New York branch of the global science ventures accelerator Innovation Forum, where I have led efforts to building the IFNY brand using various digital tools.• Medicine: knowledge on the pathophysiology and treatment of disease, patient care, communication of medical concepts to patients/families • Translational research: deep knowledge in neuro-oncology, platform optimization, drug discovery and validation, in vitro and in vivo model systems • Scientific communication: Writing, editing and presenting complex scientific concepts to both specialized and non-technical audiences, storytelling• Entrepreneurship: Content creation, digital marketing, relationship building across academia and entrepreneurs
